Is this course HUD approved?
The U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development does not directly endorse education classes. Instead, they certify the organization that offers the class as a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency. Finally Home!® is provided by Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA). IHFA, has been a HUD certified housing counseling agency for over a decade. The Finally Home! program meets and or exceeds all homebuyer education guidelines set forth by HUD.
Does Finally Home!® adhere to the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling?
Yes, Finally Home! meets and/or exceeds the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling.
Does Finally Home!® meet my loan requirements for homebuyer education?
Although each loan program differs, Finally Home!® meets most all local and national loan program educational requirements. You can confirm with your lender that Finally Home! meets your specific loan criteria.
My lender told me I have to take a homebuyer education course, what is this?
The Finally Home!® First-Time Homebuyer Education class will walk you through the home buying process step by step. You will learn valuable tools to help you become a more successful homeowner. This course breaks down mortgage programs, qualification requirements, credit, budgeting, and fees associated with purchasing a home.
Why should I take this course?
Some mortgage programs require this course. Some other incentives to take this course are help with down payment/ closing cost assistance, lower rates, and gifted funds. Overall, the course provides a solid foundation for understanding the home buying process. By taking this course you will be armed with the knowledge and tools needed to be a successful homeowner.
How long will this course take me to complete?
The online class is based on the 6 hour “live” Finally Home! Course. Live classes are approximately 6 hours, depending on location.
Do I have to finish the online class all at once?
No, you can log off and log on as many times as needed within a 30 day time frame. When you log back in you will start right where you left off.
How long do I have to complete the online course?
Students have 30 days to complete the course.
How long is my certificate good for?
The certificate does not have an expiration date, however some loan programs require that homebuyer education must be completed in a certain time frame. Check with your lender to see if your program has specific timeframes.
What if I don’t have a computer, yet I want to take the online course?
Many students don’t have access to a personal computer. Computers are available free of charge at the Library when you sign up for a Library card. You also may be able to borrow a friend or relative’s computer. You can login and logoff of the course as many times as needed within 30 days, so don’t feel like you have to finish the course in one segment.
My lender told me I need this class to qualify for a loan, but we chose to use another loan product, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds unless the student is unable to complete the online program within 7 days of payment due to program unavailability, emergency medical needs, and/or hospitalization. Documentation must be provided.
After I complete the course, how do I obtain a certificate?
Online Course: When you have completed all elements of the course you will be prompted to print or save your certificate.
Live Course: Upon completion of the course your certificate will be provided to you.
Can I pay for the course with cash or check?
Online Course: Unfortunately, we are only able to accept debit and credit cards.
Live Course: Contact the hosting location to determine what forms of payment they will accept.
